Can We Hear God?

Posted by webmaster On November - 14 - 2006

A couple of weeks ago I had a spiritual insight into how God communicates with us. This is my first, and maybe only, podcast. I hope you find it interesting. There are few places in the podcast that represent some personal moments of transparency that contain words best suited for adult ears. Mind you, this was my first podcast and I might as well leave it the way it is.

Special thanks go out to Jeff and his wife, who runs http://images.spiderpaws.com/. She is a graphic artist who threw together the wonderful iTunes logo for our podcasts.

Changes Afoot

Posted by webmaster On November - 13 - 2006

Well, we are nearing that time when this fitness blog may aquire a new home. Several domain names are being considered. Once a domain name is chosen, get ready folks. The look and feel of the blog will remain the same. God Bless WordPress. I love it!

Also, some additional changes may be in the offing. Such as the possibility of commerce. We are looking into product sales on a small scale. Or at the very least being sponsored by a large fitness company. The details are still being hashed out and ideas are being shared back and forth, so stay tuned.

Editors Note: Push-ups are an intense muscle building exercise and should not be underestimated. Large volumes of push-ups can lead to profound muscle soreness and possibly overtraining. Diet is key to being able to withstand the rigors of such intense exercise at the level Herschel Walker’s program entails. In fact, building large, strong muscles is not easy on the body in general. Read Antioxidants, Fats, Vitamins and Exercise to develop a diet strategy that will assist you in recovery. I do not recommend starting out trying to do the volume of push-ups Walker does. As always, start slow and add to your volume gradually.

Interview for Academy of Achievement

I love iron. I love to train with it. I love the way it feels when I lift it. Hell, I even love how it feels when I can’t lift it. However, and I am going to be frank here, what difference does it make if you can bench press 600 lbs but you cannot even do 20 pushups? Herschel Walker of NFL fame was reputed to have never touched a weight until college. Doing some research, I found a 1991 interview that more or less alludes to this. Here is a snippet from the article.

Full Body, Light Introductory (note: at the moment, only supplement I am taking is Goji Juice. Hardly what you would call hardcore. May need some coffee)

  • Neck 24lbs x 20; cables 5cx10x3-5SHsec (better)
  • Standing Reverse Neck 24lbs x 10×2(interesting)
  • Pushups 40, 15, 10, 10, 10, 10 , 10 (good pump, but not as good as when I had some protein and NO2)
  • Par. Chins – 24lbs x 5, 3-5SHsec, 2-5SHsec

Nice return workout. I had ample recovery…almost 2 weeks. But without sports specific supplementation, my stamina is not the same. I dont know whether the difference is based on a psychological dependency or whether the chemical change in the mucle/body environment is accounting for it.

In any case, I am back on track. This will do it for today. I don’t wish to run the risk of doing too much because I do not have the nutritional components in place to handle the stress to my body. Tomorrow is another workout.

Healing with water: the work of “water cure” pioneer Dr. Batmanghelidj

By Mark Adams for www.TargetNews.com

Editors Note: The following article is printed with permission of Target News. This blog does not necessarily endorse any of the content at Target News. However, their information appears to be very well sourced and vetted. We therefore recommend their site as a good source of information.

Those of you who are familiar with the work of the late Dr B. may own his book called “The Water Cure,” or “Water for health, for Healing, for Life: You’re Not Sick, You’re Thirsty.” He’s also the author of “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water.” Essentially, Dr. B is the foremost authority on the relationship between the consumption of water and states of health or disease in the human body.

As he explains in great detail in his many books, most common diseases (for which there are a variety of names such as asthma, arthritis, hypertension and so on) are really just names given to patterns of symptoms created by the body’s drought management system. When the human body begins to get dehydrated, it initiates a drought management system that seeks to conserve water. The symptoms characterized by this drought management effort are given disease names by conventional medicine and then treated with toxic prescription drugs.

The Band Man

A couple months ago, I was paid a visit by a friend of mine known as “The Band Man.”

Dick Hartzell is the master when it comes to band training. Most coaches, lifters, and trainers view the bands as a means of adding resistance to barbells, and much has been written in regards to the application of band in dynamic and max effort strength development……..see link below

Nutrition and Well-Being At EliteFTS

Nutrition and Well-Being

By Eric Talmant for www.EliteFTS.com

I?ve been using nutrition as a successful weapon in such
athletic endeavors as powerlifting, running, swimming, sprint triathlons,
special operations military training, and then back to powerlifting. Has it made
a difference for me? Unequivocally, yes. How? Primarily by increasing my ability
to recover from and be prepared for the next workout. I can also say that the
quality of life that I experience today is directly related to how well I took
(and continue to take) care of myself nutritionally. Is it easy? It does take
work, and it is an ongoing process. The foods that I currently eat are different
from the foods that I was eating six months ago. Not entirely different, but the
ratios (protein/carbs/fats) have changed, and I have changed some things that
suit my metabolic rate and metabolic type for my current situation.
